The Platform

Priorities

01

renew and enhance roads, parks, trails infrastructure and pot holes

Continue to fund improvements and updates to roads in our area. I will have even more exiting news on road upgrades coming soon. I also supported expanding the roads budget as well adding additional resources to address pot holes more quickly across the city. (The recent Gore Road upgrade is a recent example of a road that was long overdue and that I worked hard on to ensure that it would be updated and include a multi-use path (MUP) as well.)

02

ensure value for tax dollars

Continue to work to address affordability concerns and ensure that tax dollars are used to maintain and enhance the quality of life of residents. (Supported motions that looked to find discrepancies as well as savings. Consistently stressed the need to live within our means and keep tax increases to a minimum.)

03

affordable housing, mental health and addictions

Work with other levels of government to accelerate funds that can support the city adding more housing in areas where it makes sense within the urban boundary. Advocate with other levels of government for additional support for doctors, nurses and healthcare professionals. Continue to support ways to enhance the level of support to help those struggling with mental health, addictions and/or homelessness to help them in their journey to better health outcomes. (Supported motion to attract more doctors to the City of Kingston.)

04

Environment & Sustainability

Building a greener city through smart planning, green spaces, and responsible environmental stewardship for future generations. Continuing working to help Kingston continue to use technology to reduce its impact. Enhance our technological sector to further develop better clean technologies and position Kingston as a clean technology hub. Preserve and protect the Butternut Creek area as well as rural areas which help to provide the lungs of our city. (I supported deferral of the Official Plan to provide more time for additional studies and public feedback.)
